In the year 2017, Yahoo is planning to bring some major updates in it, if its deal of $4.8 Billion sale with Verizon is confirmed. A news has recently arrived that Yahoo Inc. would rename itself as Altaba Inc., after the completion of this deal. However, CEO Marissa Mayer along with co-founder David Filo and others are planning to give resignation from the board of the directors, if this business deal is successful.

The name has not yet officially changed but once the business deal with Verizon is accomplished, the name of Yahoo will be changed to Altaba. This agreement involves the selling of Yahoo’s core business over the internet in $4.83 billion. The set of core Altaba Yahoo business includes emailing, media assets, and digital advertising. The basic assets of this deal will include 15% stake in Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (an e-commerce Chinese company) and 35.5% stake in Yahoo Japan. In addition, there is also a perception that Verizon might continue using Yahoo brand name for acquiring some type of online services, based on consumers. When Yahoo previously (in last year) revealed its two separate data breaches, at that time, the term of this deal was much improved. The first breach involved around 500 million accounts of customers, while the another one included a billion.

As per the updates, there is also a news that along with CEO Marissa Mayer, five other Yahoo directors are likely to resign after the pact completion. However, the remaining ones will direct Altaba in holding the company. These remaining members of the board of directors are Tor Braham, Eric Brandt, Catherine Friedman, Thomas McInerney, and Jeffrey Smith. This composition of Altaba board is a sudden change for Starboard, who is an activist investor and hugely supports Yahoo in its sale.

After going through all these updates regarding Yahoo, one can now say that they are creating their account in Altaba mail (instead of Yahoo mail). This means that now a solution will be required by which Altaba account users can create backup of their account on a local machine. Therefore, SysTools is providing a utility for generating a backup of Altaba account data i.e., Altaba (Yahoo) Backup.

Overview on Altaba (Yahoo) Backup Tool

The software creates a backup of Altaba email account data on PC and saves it in PST, MSG, MBOX, or EML file format. This will allow one to download emails from an Altaba Yahoo account and saves it locally on a machine. The product provides multiple features like filtering option, customizing internet bandwidth, throttling, etc., while downloading data. Moreover, one can also access their Altaba emails in MS Outlook just by exporting emails into PST file format. The software maintains original structure of emails (folder hierarchy) and keeps the meta properties of the messages intact.

Conclusion

Yahoo Inc. renamed as Altaba Inc.: This news is going to take place after the accomplishment of a deal between Yahoo and Verizon. If this happens then, CEO Marissa Mayer along with few more board of directors are going to resign from board of Yahoo directors. Well, if such renaming exists then, solution for creating a backup of Altaba (Yahoo) account is provided to end users.
