- Start>>Run
- Type regedit, Click OK
- Open registry key which is shown as: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Excel.Sheet.8\shell\Open\command
- Click Default option from right pane
- Edit Menu>> Modify
- %1 can be now removed from the end portion of value data string shown as: “C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT OFFICE\OFFICE\EXCEL.EXE” /e (including the quotation marks)
- Click OK
- Exit Registry key
