How To Format An SD Card On Android
Most of the Android phones now days are coming with either a built in SD card or comes with the option to install one into your phone. Expanding your device’s storage space is the method to store music, photos and other media into your android phone. This process of storing data also helps in preserving device internal memory for other applications.
Before the new SD card is used in android it should be formatted. Fortunately, Android phones come with built-in capability which is easy to achieve.
First, go to your home screen by pressing the Home button on your device screen.
Then select the menu button and press setting.
Scroll down the list until the SD and Phone storage entry is not found then select it. The undermentioned screen will give you a summary of multiple aspects of your SD card. For example its maximum capacity, how much space is available etc. For carrying out the further process you need to unmount the SD card by selecting the “Unmount SD card” option from the menu.
Caution: The formatting of SD card may result in inaccessibility of android phone data. Thus, the use of data recovery tools/methods should be known so as to recover lost or inaccessible data from SD card.
- If the card is successfully unmounted from the phone, the “Format SD card” option will become available.
