AOL or America Online had been a hit amongst users previously. Despite the emergence of other brands of browsers and email services, AOL is still being used by a number of users across globe. Those who are planning to discontinue the service though would never want to compromise with their years of data. Therefore, this blog puts light on the ways to convert AOL favorites to Internet Explorer browser. You can apply the suggested workarounds to achieve desired output.

Call for AOL Favorites Conversion

The demand arises when you have been using AOL Explorer for years and suddenly plan to switch to something more advanced and latest. For users in practice of using a browser it is common to have a wide collection of favorites marked to be visited in repeatedly without having to search for the web pages.

However, when switching from the AOL Explorer there is a chance that you might have to leave behind years of treasure of information. In order to avoid this from happening, you can go for a conversion of AOL Favorites to your preferred browser.

As AOL, web explorer is nothing but an optimized edition of the MS Internet Explorer. Therefore, transfer of favorites or popularly known as ‘Bookmarks’ won’t be as complicated as you think it could be.

Without putting your productive time at stake, you can get your AOL Favorites transferred to IE by following the suggested workarounds:

Go for Manual Move: If you were not a vivid explorer of the web then there is a possibility that the list of favorites must have minimal items on it. This makes it possible for users to get their favorites manually transferred, i.e. copied to the destination browser.

  1. Open AOL Explorer and go to Favorites section
  2. Copy the link of one of the Favorites listed
  3. Visit the copied web link using Internet Explorer
  4. Now mark the web page as a favorite on IE browser
  5. Repeat the process until you are done with all the favorites

This may be a tiresome process for users having a large number of items marked as Favorites but not for the defined user group. Thus, the method is applicable in certain cases for moving the AOL Explorer Favorites instead of converting them.

NOTE: Copying is a method similar for all web browsers to use.

Go For The Conversion: You can also go for the import export procedure to fulfill the need to convert AOL Favorites to Internet Explorer. The option can be chosen by users having a bulk of Favorites to be exported from their AOL to IE.

  1. Go to the Favorites section of your AOL Explorer by visiting: http://favorites.aol.com and choose Bookmarks.
  2. Sign into AOL using your account details to be able to export the bookmarks.
  3. Click on Export Bookmarks option provided on the left pane of the window at the bottom on the screen. You will see an HTML file being downloaded from the browser.
  4. Click on Save and choose a location on your machine for saving the file.
  5. Click on Save again on the window to begin the download procedure.

That was all about the Favorites export. Now comes the part where you will be able to know how the need to convert AOL favorites to Internet Explorer can be fulfilled with the mere implementation of import procedure.

Simply go to the Import Bookmarks option and choose the AOL Favorites exported as HTML on the machine. The steps are simple and almost similar for all types of browsers and not just IE.

NOTE: Export procedure remains completely same for all the browsers.
