SysTools Conducted : Call Data Record Analysis Session for Delhi Police Officers
India, New Delhi, September 20, 2018: A one day session on Call Data Record analysis and reporting was conducted for Delhi Police officers at Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police – II, North-East District, New Delhi on Saturday. Shashank Jaiswal, IPS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police, inaugurated the training session and stated that after demonetization there is a substantial rise in cybercrimes. The crimes involving mobile phones had increased to a great extent and thus the accurate knowledge of analyzing and reporting the CDR (Call Data Records) is of huge importance to solve any said cases.
“The fraudsters are now a days targeting more of middle class and under privileged people. Banking related frauds, abducting and ransom demands, elope cases, child trafficking, illegal drug deals, etc. and many similar cases involves the use of mobile phones. The evidence in form of mobile numbers, their recordings and other details help police officers to frame the crime nature and reach the culprit. Call Data Record, is of high importance in tracing the location and other details of the user; sometimes to reach the victim and other time to reach the culprit. In almost all the cases where phone calls are involved, Call detail Record analysis and reporting plays a major role. This training that focus more on Call Data Record analysis and reporting will enable our Police officers to understand the proper handling of call detail Records generated by various mobile-operators. I share my sincere gratitude and have no words to appreciate the support that team SysTools had provided to the Police department by conducting such knowledge sessions at various police units. As there is only few trained resources in our Police unit to handle cybercrimes, It is very impendent for all the attendees today to utilize the opportunity and learn more about Call detail Record Investigation & its reporting,” said Mr. Jaiswal.
The session covered the procedures of Call Data Record Analysis using Microsoft Excel in a simple and effective way. Call Detail Record files are obtained from mobile network service providers like Vodafone, Airtel, Jio etc. The format in which each service provider assemble and share the call detail Record data is different. The training session headed by the CDR analyst & one of the known expert in finance fraud investigation, Mr. Jubith Paloth focused more on making it clear for the investigator on how to deal with different call data Record files received from different service providers. After converting the data to Excel file, it makes the analysis much easier, but for that hands on Excel formulas and Excel functionalities are also equally important. The session was of 3 hours duration, but provided much insights about how to analyze and track call detail record using excel features like: Data Filter, Paste Special, VLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, Pivot Table and other analytical methods.
